Jalil Berryman, 35, a known trespasser, was back at it again on Monday night, and despite his best efforts, once again found himself in handcuffs after attempting to evade a quick-thinking deputy who was wise to his plan.
According to a spokesperson from the sheriff's office, at around 9:45 p.m. on Oct. 7, a deputy on patrol in Garrison Woods spotted Berryman, who was known "rather well from multiple prior interactions."
It was also well known that Berryman was wanted and known to trespass in the area.
Backup responded to assist the deputy when Berryman fled toward the Sky Terrace area, though members of the sheriff's office were familiar with his behavior, and he was ultimately apprehended and found to be intoxicated.
Inside his backpack, deputies also recovered suspected controlled substances.
The Stafford resident was charged with possession of controlled substances, trespassing, and public intoxication. He was also served on eight outstanding warrants.
Berryman was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $3,000 secured bond.
